Leftist Insanity: California high-speed rail gets green light

Why can’t the left accept life on life’s terms? Why do they keep doing the same things over and over, expecting different results?

Passenger trains are boondoggles. That’s why they are all taxpayer-funded. The private sector shut down the trains in 1972 because they lost large amounts of money.

Here in Minnesota, every train cost at least double the amount originally projected and they do not make a profit. The transit commission admitted that. On the line from Big Lake to Minneapolis in a best case scenario of full trains in both directions, it loses 70 cents of every dollar. Would you buy stock that loses 70% on an annual basis?

And to show the complete brilliance of these Minnesota idiots, they are starting up the Northstar Line from Minneapolis to Duluth. For the third time.

The first time it was by the private sector, the railroad. They ended service due to lack of ridership and it lost money. Then the government came in during the 1980′s and once again it failed for the same reasons. Now, 30 years later, here comes the government again, and here comes another failure, again.

Oh, and for these failures here in Minnesota, you can thank that half-wit former Governor, Jesse Ventura for kick starting this complete boondoggle.

But no, Minnesota isn’t the topic of conversation in this post. California is.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California lawmakers gave the green light to start building the nation’s first dedicated high-speed rail line, a multibillion dollar project that will eventually link Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The move marked major political victories for Democrat Gov. Jerry Brown and the Obama administration….

There it is. Once again the good of the State and its people take a backseat to the ideology of “The One.”

How much is this unnecessary nonsense going to cost?

The final cost of the completed project from Los Angeles to San Francisco is projected to be $68 billion.

68 billion dollars, eh? No. It will cost close to 100 billion if not more when all is said and done. I’m so sure of that, I’m willing to put my money where my mouth is, and I’ll bet real money on that.

Just for the sake of avoiding argument, we’ll stick with the projection of 68 billion dollars.

The 64,000 dollar question: California has a 16 billion dollar budget deficit. How can they afford to spend 68 billion dollars they don’t have on a choo-choo train?

If you are 16 dollars in the hole in your checking account, do you go out and buy a bunch of expensive stuff and write bad checks to “pay” for them? This makes no sense whatsoever, but what do you expect in a state run by Democrats?

It’s really true! They actually believe that you can buy magic seeds and when you plant them, money tree’s will grow.
